Prof. Dr. Nedim SÖZBİR

Rector

Prof. Dr. Nedim SÖZBİR was born in 1965 in Kars. He completed his primary and secondary education in Üsküdar; in 1982, he graduated from the Ministry of Transport Shipbuilding Vocational High School. He graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Kocaeli Engineering Faculty as Mechanical Engineer in 1986 as a Mechanical Engineer and graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Graduate School of Science and Engineering in 1991 as a Mechanical Engineer MSc. Between 1986-1987 and 1989-1990, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the Turkish Ship Industry Association Pendik- Su lzer Engineering Factory. Between 1988 and 1989, he performed his military service at the Turkish Admiralty, Ship Maintenance and Repair Department as a Mechanic Third Lieutenant; Between 1990 and 1995, he worked as a research assistant at Yıldız Technical University, Kocaeli Engineering Faculty Department of Mechanical Engineering. Between 1994-1995, he completed his PhD thesis at the Miami University Department of Mechanical Engineering as a visiting researcher. In 1995, he earned his Dr.Engineer title from İstanbul University Institute of Science in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Department. Between 2000-2004, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Between 2006-2007, he participated in Thales Alenia Space, Cannes, and Türksat 3A Communication Satellite technology transfer program and worked as Satellite Thermal Engineer. Between 2015-2016, he worked at the Defence Industry Research and Development Agency as a panel member and as a senior technical researcher at The Scientific and Technological Research Council Space Technology Institute of Türkiye. Between 2018-2020, he worked as a council member at Tubitak Marmara Research Centre; between 2018-2020, he worked as a consultant at BMC Motor and Control Technologies Association Company in the projects to develop 1000 and 15000 BG Power Systems; between 2010-2015, he worked as a consultant in the construction of Göktürk 1 Satellite Centre for Space System, and between 2017-2021, he worked as a consultant director of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye, Marmara Research Centre. Since 2006, he has been working as a researcher and consultant at Türksat Association Company Development of National Communication Satellite Project. Between 1995-2022, he worked as a faculty member at Sakarya University Engineering Faculty, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and between 2019-2022, Prof. Dr. SÖZBİR worked as Vice Dean at Sakarya University Faculty of Technical Education. As of 03.08.2022, He has been appointed as the Rector of Düzce University 

The research areas of Prof. Dr. Nedim SÖZBİR are as follows: Satellite and Space Technologies, Thermal Control in Satellites, Energy Technologies, Heat Transfer, Thermal Design, Electronic Cooling, Energy Economics, Recycling and Environmental Technologies. National Ship Motors, for a new generation of armored vehicles 1000 BG and Altay Tank 1500 BG Power Developing Group, National Communication Satellite, and worked as a consultant and researcher on national and international projects for Satellite components. Thales Alanie Space ve Space University, design for France Communication and Observance Satellite, installation, integration, test topics, training between 2006-2013. Prof. Dr. Nedim SÖZBİR has published 41 national and international articles and 114 research papers. Communication Satellite Platform National Patent, Aluminium-based Based Flaks and for Steel Industry Standardisation Studies of TS 13644, a booklet for Technofest Model Satellite Competition for students called " Satellite Communication 101" and has a book in which he works as an editor of Thermal Science and its Technique Congress. He has worked as a peer viewer for many national and international journals. He is currently working as a guest editor at Frontiers in the Thermal Engineering Journal on the topic of Heat Transfer in Aerospace Applications.
