Establishment

The foundation of Düzce University dates back to the establishment of Düzce Vocational School in 1976 under the Sakarya Engineering Faculty of Istanbul Technical University.

In 1992, with the foundation of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, the universityisation process of Düzce University turned into a different dimension and accelerated with the opening of the Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Technical Education, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health, Akçakoca School of Tourism Management and Hotel Management and Akçakoca Vocational School in addition to Düzce Vocational School. Afterward, Düzce University, which was founded by splitting from Abant İzzet Baysal University with the law numbered 5467 published in the Official Gazette dated 17 March 2006 and numbered 26111, started its education and training activities with the philosophy of generating value.

Düzce University, which had 3 faculties and 5700 students in the first years of its foundation, today draws great attention as a respected and preferred higher education institution with more than 30 thousand students, 13 Faculties, 1 Institute, 4 Institutes, 2 Schools, 10 Vocational Schools, more than 30 research centers, Technopark, Research and Application Hospital.

Düzce University, which has transformed from a sapling into a sycamore with its scientific research, and high value-added research besides contributing to regional development in the light of its philosophy of producing value since its establishment since 17 March 2006, continues its academic, social, and cultural activities successfully with its entrepreneurial, innovative and transparent management culture and staffs. Düzce University, which adopts the principle of science for society, continues to produce new values with its modern education programmes, technological facilities, and qualified and well-equipped academic staff.
