Establishment

The roots of Düzce University is traced back to Düzce Vocational School, which was initially affiliated with the Sakarya Engineering Faculty of Istanbul Technical University. Over the years, the vocational school received tremendous support and gradually evolved into a full-fledged university. 

In 1992, the establishment of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University in Bolu had a significant impact on the development of Düzce University. This event added a new dimension to the process of Düzce University becoming a fully-fledged university. 

Besides the Düzce Vocational School, the Faculty of Forestry, the Faculty of Technical Education, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Akçakoca School of Tourism and Hotel Management and the Akçakoca Vocational School, which is affiliated to Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, Düzce, accelerated their progress to becoming independent institutions. 

Afterwards, with the law of 17th March 2006 and numbered 26111 in the Official Gazette with the code number 5467, Düzce University is established with its institutions in Düzce and its districts, leaving its ties with Abant İzzet Baysal University and starting its academic researches and teaching studies with the motto of "Generating Value".

In the first years of its establishment, Düzce University started with 3 faculties and 5700 students. Today it has more than 30 thousand students. Düzce University with its 12 Faculties, 1 Graduate Institute, 2 Schools, 10 Vocational Schools, more than 30 Research Centres, Technopark and Research and Application Hospital is a popular, prestigious and renowned institution. 

Düzce University, with its entrepreneurial, revisionist and transparent administrative culture, has been carrying out its activities with merit and success since its foundation on 17 March 2006 until today with the motto of creating values; with scientific research, value-added projects and activities, with regional development from the plough to the sycamore.

Düzce University, with its modern educational programmes, technological capacities, qualified and equipped academic staff, continues its way to create new values and merits with the motto "Serving Scientific Knowledge to Society's Concerns".
