Nihat YILDIZ

Secretary of the General

Nihat YILDIZ was born in Çorum in 1963. He is graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University in 1988. He studied English preparatory school in Middle East Technical University. He graduated from Turkey and Middle East Institute of Public Administration (TODAIE) with a Master's Degree in Public Administration.

He worked as Controller, Chief Controller and Deputy Chairman of the Board at the Ministry of Interior between 1990 and 2004, Deputy Mayor of Ankara Mamak Municipality between 2004 and 2008, Deputy Mayor of Ankara Keçiören Municipality between 2009 and 2018, and Deputy Secretary General of Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality between 2019 and 2022.

He has 3 publications and books published on "External Administrative Audit of Municipalities in Turkey-1998", "Transfer of Urban Traffic Services to Municipalities-2001", "Basic Information for Mayors and Municipal Council Members-2004". He has published dozens of articles, research and review articles on Public Administration, Public Audit and Local Services in various journals and publications, some of which are refereed.

He has given legislative trainings to Mayors, Municipal Council Members, Ministry and Local Administration personnel and managers in more than 100 programmes organised by the Ministry of Interior, Union of Municipalities of Turkey, Governorships, Metropolitan, Provincial and District Municipalities and other Local Administration Unions.

He has made observations, researches and studies in many countries such as EU member countries, USA, Russia, China, England, Canada, Australia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan in the fields of administration, supervision and local services.

Since 2022 December, he has been serving as the Secretary General of our University.

He speaks English fluently. He is married and has two children.
